Sarah K Hornsby
MyoMentor Founder
Sarah Hornsby, a former dental hygienist, has emerged as a leading figure in the field of myofunctional therapy. With a multifaceted role as a myofunctional therapist, international speaker, educator, and entrepreneur, Sarah has cultivated a vibrant community of dedicated healthcare professionals striving to make a difference in the lives of their patients.
In 2014, Sarah revolutionized the field of myofunctional therapy by pioneering the world's first fully online myofunctional therapy practice. Not content with just transforming clinical practice, Sarah also embarked on another groundbreaking endeavor that same year: launching MyoMentor - the world's first online, longer-duration myofunctional therapy training course.
Driven by her personal myofunctional journey, Sarah brings a unique depth of understanding and passion to her work, inspiring others to join her in her mission. Through her innovative approach and commitment to changing the status quo, Sarah continues to push the boundaries of what's possible in this emerging field.
THE MYOMENTOR TEAM
ASH KRAMER
Course Director
Ash is the first person you'll interface with when you start your MyoMentor journey. He has been part of the MyoMentor team since the beginning, and his knowledge about myo and the airway is impressive, considering he doesn't work with patients or have a healthcare background.
Anyone who's taken the MyoMentor course knows that Ash always goes above and beyond when it comes to student and graduate support. His passion for myo stems from the fact that he had some amazing results from myofunctional therapy and having his own tongue-tie released.
Ash is based in the USA today, but he's originally from South Africa and New Zealand, which explains his interesting accent.
JENNIFER ROONEY, BSDH
Director of Graduate Relations
Jennifer is passionate about improving lives through advances in health care with a BS in Dental Hygiene and more than 30 years of dental hygiene experience. Jennifer previously worked private dental practice, has served as an assistant clinical instructor at the University of MN, sales and training manager for The Canary System most recently sales manager for REMastered Sleep and the REMplenish Myo-Nozzle. She is very excited to continue her work to improve the airway health of millions with MyoMentor’s education platforms as director of graduate relations.
RUBY MERMAID BAUMAN, MUTT
Security Director
Ruby is a Rottweiler mix who can often be seen in the background while Sarah is hosting MyoMentor classes from her office. Sometimes, Ruby gets overprotective and her barks become part of the course curriculum but she's so cute that she gets away with it.
Ruby loves chasing lizards, sleeping, and eating rotisserie chicken from Costco - her favorite food.
EVA MOORE
Operations Coordinator
Eva started out as Sarah's personal assistant, but she quickly took on more and more responsibilities at MyoMentor and is now our valued Operations Coordinator.
Today, she handles so much of the behind-the-scenes work that keeps MyoMentor running. From the treatment kit students receive at the beginning of the 12-Week Course to the certificate they get upon graduation and so much more, Eva has a role in it all. You'll also see her on-screen during our weekly Discussion Calls on the 12-Week Course.
Eva's originally from Minnesota but moved to Arizona in 2020, where she can work side-by-side with Sarah.
AVASA SHERMAN
MyoMentor Assistant
Avasa is the most organized and proactive member of the team and is involved with many of the highly detailed processes that keep MyoMentor running like a well-oiled machine.
With a keen eye for detail and an unwavering dedication to efficiency, Avasa is assistant to Sarah, Ash, and Eva. Her strategic approach makes all of our lives easier. You might encounter her if you're signed up for one of our CE programs, and she'll be the one who makes and mails out your MyoMentor kit.
Avasa grew up in both Arizona and Ohio, but she now calls Phoenix home.

ABOUT SARAH
I’m a myofunctional therapist, speaker, mentor, and entrepreneur. I’m dedicated to changing the status quo in healthcare and dentistry through education and action. My own health journey has inspired me to create a community of passionate and like-minded professionals who are all making a big difference in this field.
My own journey to becoming a myofunctional therapist started when I graduated from Eastern Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene.
I loved working with patients but quickly discovered that my wrists couldn’t handle the long hours and repetitive motions. In addition, I started to feel like something was missing from my career. I felt stuck, and I hate to admit it, but I was even a little unsatisfied with the profession as a whole. I felt as if I wasn’t able to provide the level of patient care I wanted to because of the constant time pressure that’s part of working in a busy dental practice.
So I began my career as a myofunctional therapist by taking a training course. Then another one, and another. I flew all over the country and spent thousands of dollars trying to figure out how to become successful in this field. Even three separate training courses weren’t enough to answer all the questions I had, or to give me the confidence I needed to charge thousands of dollars for my services.
For me, this just wasn’t the right way to get started. The problem was that even after all the training, and the great support from my instructors, I still felt overwhelmed. Breaking into a new field while starting my own business was really difficult, and I longed for the guided experience I valued so much in hygiene school. I wished I had a mentor to help me through those initial challenges, and the day-to-day questions that always pop up in a new practice.
It was the things that I couldn’t learn in a training course that I really struggled with:
-
Building a strong referral network
-
Dealing with dentists who had never heard of myofunctional therapy
-
Talking to patients about prices, their finances, and what to do when they couldn’t afford treatment
-
Working through demanding cases and noncompliant patients
-
Setting up systems to track patients, finances and referrals
The list goes on, but if I’d had someone to work through the obstacles with me as they happened, I’d have had far less stress, and made much more money in less time.
Eventually, I did figure it all out, and Faceology, my myofunctional therapy practice is busy and successful today. I knew all along it didn’t have to be so difficult to reach this point, and I’d love to help you get there in less time, and to have lots of fun along the way.
The truth is what took me just over four years to learn, I can teach you in far less time, and give you a huge head start in beginning your new career adventure.
